OAKENGATES CHOOSES TOWN MAYOR
At its recent annual meeting, Oakengates Town Council elected Councillor Hilda Rhodes as its mayor and Councillor Steve Wood as the deputy town mayor.
Councillor Rhodes said that the council had recognised that the regeneration of Oakengates would be its first priority, and that it would need to work closely with other parties to address the difficulties facing the parish. To that end, she and Councillor Wood had already attended a positive and constructive meeting with
Councillor Wood added that he was honoured to accept the position of deputy town mayor, and would be delighted to give Councillor Rhodes his full support and help. He added “We all know that Oakengates faces problems. The town council and other bodes have to tackle those problems, and I look forward to working closely with Councillor Rhodes to help the town council to play its part in the process. She and I will be looking for all members of the town council to get behind us.”
