Cllr Steve Wood
I am a local parish councillor and a member of the Regeneration Partnership for Oakengates. My aim is to see the town come out of its tired past and regenerate into a thriving modern place with links and memories of its industrial heritage. People should enjoy coming to our town, we welcome visitors who want to shop, visit the theatre or be entertained in our many restaurants and public houses. Oakengates would be the entertainment capital of Telford once we have ironed out the "Binge Drinking" attitude some people have that visit our town, as other towns in the country are facing today.
My Pledge.
I have sponsored this web site, I will promote the town through this web site, I will work to secure funding from the Borough Council for "Regeneration Projects" in the town. I will listen to peoples ideas for regeneration projects.
It has been my pleasure to serve as a parish Councillor for 18 months. The council and the councillors as it is works very well. Around the table are members with the experience I don’t have but with their knowledge and my enthusiasm the regeneration of the town will happen. I hope that the Borough Council will follow through with the desire to regenerate the town. A survey form was supposed to be sent out, many residents are upset (and rightly so) that despite the Town Council doing their best to get the survey right first time this has not been distributed and returned. Some are asking; is there a hidden agenda? I must admit, I am starting to question this myself. We that is the Councillors and Residents of this town should not let others with their own agenda spoil our pitch for regeneration money. We need all the support people can give. When the survey form arrives please fill it out, return it and encourage your neighbors to complete it too. Updated 01.10.08
