Youth in Oakengates

Oakengates Town Council and the Social and Events Committee have supported youth projects in the town jointly supported by the local Police and Borough Council.

Resolution 287/07 in meeting held on the 5th June 2007 agreed that Cllr Wood would attend the “MIDAS” course at Telford and Wrekin Council. This was completed at a cost of £70. This enabled the use of the “Integrated” mini busses to be used saving on cost to hire a vehicle in the usual way.

The Social Committee resolution 271/08 in meeting held on the 12th May 2008 allowed up to £500 available for suitable trips towards the hire cost and fuel for trips and outings.

The youth of this town have enjoyed several trips out encouraging their teamwork, fitness and exercise, culture and fun. They visited the Snow Dome in Tamworth, Laser Quest in Kingswinford, Drayton manor Park and Zoo and Walks such as up the Wrekin.

These trips would not have been possible if it wasn’t for the support of Oakengates Town Council the Councillors, volunteers and the Police.

The group can only survive with the good will and support the community can give.
